Where will we be going this year?
In case you didn't know, we will be going to Camp Daniel Boone http://campdanielboone.org/. This is the first time our troop has been to this camp and we are very excited to show what kind of spirit we can bring to this new location. We are all looking forward to another great trip this year.
When are we going to meet to talk about this?
Our first parents meeting with be on Tuesday night, April 19th at 7pm while your Scout is in his Scout meeting. Please plan to be there for 30 - 45 minutes, I'll make it as quick as possible. I just want to make sure I can get your questions and provide answers.
What kind of information will you receive?
To reduce our costs to the troop, we will be 'going green' or electronic, whichever you prefer to call it. We are going to be either emailing information/forms with the information you need or providing links on our website (http://www.bsatroop144.com) so its in an easy place to find.
What is one of the things I need to be working on right now?
Top priority - medical forms! There are new BSA medical forms this year for your Scouts. The rules have changed a bit too, so here we go:
- Each year your Scout must to have a physical. Forms from previous years lasted for 3 years but now the form is only good for 1 year. For our regular campouts, on parts A and C would need to be filled out, however for summer camp, sections A, B and C need to be filled out. The good thing is, if you have to get the form filled out you might as well do the whole thing, then they are good for a year no matter what type of camping we do. If you have already filled out sections A and C on the new medical form and your son is NOT attending camp, no changes are needed.
By the way, the troop has to have a medical form for your son year round anyway, but you probably have already heard one of us say that.
- Adults - the same applies for you if you are attending summer camp. Sections A and C for regular campouts, sections A, B and C for anything over 72 hours.
- You must give your form directly to myself or to Shawn Coffman. You cannot email forms to us (especially since section B requires a doctors signature).
